Meet John Clamp

Education & Family
John Glenn Clamp is one of 7 children and grew up in a military family. In 1974, his family moved just outside of San Antonio to Woodlake, located between the cities of Converse and Kirby. He graduated from Judson High School in 1982 and started classes at The University of Texas at San Antonio the following semester.
John earned a B.B.A. in Accounting in 1987. Three years later, he became a CPA; and in 1997 earned an M.B.A. with a concentration in Finance. He is REALTOR and a Licensed Real Estate and Mortgage Broker in the State of Texas. He is also a registered Property Tax Arbitrator for the State of Texas.
John is married and the proud father of four children, ranging in ages from 11-25 years old. His wife, Cindy, is a teacher in The Military School Districts' Special Education Cooperative.
San Antonio City Council
John was elected to the San Antonio City Council in 2007 and served two terms as the District 10 Councilman where he emerged as a leader in policy work. John served more than 150,000 constituents in district 10 and made significant contributions for our city. He made it a priority to work together with the mayor and council members and authored or co-authored more than 30 Council Consideration Requests (CCR) during his term. He is also proud that during his four years of service, the city council passed three property tax rate decreases.
While serving on the San Antonio City Council, John was Chair of the City’s Public Safety Committee and a member of the Economic Development Committee and the City Investment Committee. He was Vice-Chair of the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) and a member of the Lone Star Rail District and the San Antonio Mobility Coalition. John was also instrumental in securing $130 million in funding to complete Wurzbach Parkway with several elected officials for Bexar County and the City of San Antonio.
Professional Experience
John is currently a real estate broker operating Landmark Realty, which he opened in 2001. Landmark is located in North East San Antonio and serves clients throughout Bexar County and the surrounding area.
Prior to opening Landmark Realty, John had a 13-year career at USAA that included work in real estate, accounting, finance, project management and economics. His experience at USAA also included valuable working knowledge of corporate tax, ad valorem tax, and state sales tax.
