As your Tax Assessor, my commitment to you will be to provide exceptional customer service.  I pledge to build upon past improvements and create new enhancements through innovative technology, fiscal responsibility and above all, attention to you, our customer. 

The following are some of our ideas to lead your tax office to the next level:

Customer Service

• Lower average waiting time to 15 minutes per visit
• Extend and/or shift operating hours and add additional locations
• Add customer service representatives on the floor at each location 
• Create partnerships with major local retailers as payment centers

Technology Enhancements

• Create live online chat/instant message to assist customers that use the existing online payment system
• Add kiosks to each tax office location and to major local retailers for convenience of making payments
  
• Develop smart phone applications 
• Implement electronic statement delivery and electronic notifications for enrolled accounts to include mortgage companies

Financial Management

• Reward customers for early payment by working with the Commissioners Court to reinstate the statutory early payment discount
• Identify opportunities to reduce waste and improve operational efficiencies 
• Simplify and enhance property tax payment options to include monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual payments
• Uphold the highest fiduciary standards in safeguarding your tax dollars
• Implement the Sofflaw in Bexar County.  If someone has an outstanding warrant or civil penalty, they must first pay the fine before a motor vehcile registration is issued.

The Bexar County Tax Assessor is responsible for a

$3 billion operation and almost 900,000 accounts.  With your support, we will accomplish innovative and effective enhancements, like the ones listed above, to better serve you.

A professional, effective tax office ensures the timely payment of funds to county/local governments and school districts.  Those entities then pay the salaries to those who serve and protect our county: law enforcement officers, firefighters, teachers, public works departments and more.
